英语两分钟演讲稿篇1

president gutmann; provost price; board chair cohen; fellow honorees; and today’s graduates:

i’m honored and grateful for the invitation today.

it’s always great to be on the penn campus. i’ve been to a lot of basketball games at the palestra because my son played on the team. coach didn’t give him enough playing time, but we’ll talk about that later. no, i’m very pleased with the progress coach allen has made and i wish them success in the future.

i’d always get a warm welcome here—except on the few occasions when i’d wear my yankees cap.

it’s like taking your life in your hands. people would say: “we love you denzel. but you walking around with that hat on…we don’t care who you are.”

so you’ll be happy to see that i’m not wearing my yankees cap today.

but i am wearing my yankees socks, my yankees t-shirt, and my yankees underwear.

still, i’ll be honest with you: i’m a little nervous. speaking at a graduation of this magnitude is a little overwhelming.

this is out of my comfort zone.

英语两分钟演讲稿篇2

“we are reading the first verse of the first chapter of a book whose pages are infinite---”

i do not know who wrote those words, but i have always liked them as a reminder that the future can be anything we want to make it.we can take the mysterious, hazy future and carve out of it anything that we can imagine, just like a sculptor carves a statue from a shapeless stone.

we are all in the position of the farmer.if we plant a good seed,we reap a good harvest.if our seed is poor and full of weeds,we reap a useless crop.if we plant nothing at all,we harvest nothing at all.

i want the future to be better than the past.i don't want it contaminated by the mistakes and errors with which history is filled.we should all be concerned about the future because that is where we will spend the reminder of our lives.

the past is gone and static.nothing we can do will change it.the future is before us and dynamic.everything we do will effect it.each day will brings with it new frontiers,in our homes and in our businesses,if we will only recognize them.we are just at the beginning of the progress in every field of human endeavor.

as americans gather to celebrate this week, we show our gratitude for the many blessings in our lives. we are grateful for our friends and families who fill our lives with purpose and love. we're grateful for our beautiful country, and for the prosperity we enjoy. we're grateful for the chance to live, work and worship in freedom. and in this thanksgiving week, we offer thanks and praise to the provider of all these gifts, almighty god.

we also recognize our duty to share our blessings with the least among us. throughout the holiday season, schools, churches, synagogues and other generous organizations gather food and clothing for their neighbors in need. many young people give part of their holiday to volunteer at homeless shelters or food pantries. on thanksgiving, and on every day of the year, america is a more hopeful nation because of the volunteers who serve the weak and the vulnerable.

the thanksgiving tradition of compassion and humility dates back to the earliest days of our society. and through the years, our deepest gratitude has often been inspired by the most difficult times. almost four centuries ago, the pilgrims set aside time to thank god after suffering through a bitter winter. george washington held thanksgiving during a trying stay at valley forge. and president lincoln revived the thanksgiving tradition in the midst of a civil war.

the past year has brought many challenges to our nation, and americans have met every one with energy, optimism and faith. after lifting our economy from a recession, manufacturers and entrepreneurs are creating s again. volunteers from across the country came together to help hurricane victims rebuild. and when the children of beslan, russia suffered a brutal terrorist attack, the world saw america's generous heart in an outpouring of compassion and relief.

the greatest challenges of our time have come to the men and women who protect our nation. we're fortunate to have dedicated firefighters and police officers to keep our streets safe. we're grateful for the homeland security and intelligence personnel who spend long hours on faithful watch. and we give thanks to the men and women of our military who are serving with courage and skill, and making our entire nation proud.

soy food good for women

women who ate soy regularly as children have a lower risk of breast cancer, american researchers report. and men who eat fish several times a week have a lower risk of colon cancer, a second team of researchers have told the american association for cancer research.

the studies add to a growing body of evidence about the role of diet in cancer. cancer experts now believe that up to two-thirds of all cancers come from lifestyle factors such as smoking, diet and lack of exercise.

the us national cancer institute and researchers at the university of hawaii found that women who ate the most soy-based foods, such as tofu and miso, when aged 5 to 11, reduced their risk of developing breast cancer by 58 per cent. it was not clear how soy might prevent cancer, though compounds in soy called isoflavones have estrogen-like effects.

a second study showed that men who ate fish at least five times a week had a 40 per cent lower risk of developing colorectal cancer compared with men who ate fish less than once a week.

many kinds of fish are rich in omega-3 fatty acids, which interfere with the cyclooxygenase-2 or cox-2 enzyme. cox-2 affects inflammation, which may play a role in tumour growth.

i decided to be a middle school teacher after college. there are many reasons contribute to this decision.

firstly, when i was a little boy, i have been dreaming of being a teacher. it seemed so fascinate to me and i hope i can make my dream come true.

besides, i like so much to be with middle school students. most of the students at that age are full of youthful spirity and i am sure their passion would pass to me. i will retain all the zest of adolescence.

the most important reason is that our country needs plenty of teachers. so far, teaching is considered a tough and low-income job in china. however, if we have not enough teachers, our future will lack of excellent scientist, managers, businessmen, soldiers and even goood workers and farmers. how can our country to be strong and wealthy?

i wish my country to be a better one. i am ready to be a teacher and hope all the persons with lofty ideals may dedicate themselves to this meaningful career.
